I want to take this opportunity to provide an update on how Torin-Sifan is continuing to respond to Covid-19.
For sure the crisis continues to put pressure on us all, particularly from a health & wellbeing perspective, but also a professional level too. However, I am pleased to report that Torin-Sifan has continued to manufacture throughout this difficult period and continue to have over 100 colleagues either working from home where their job role allows or attending on site at one of our two factories in Swindon. By sustaining our operations, we have been able to support both our suppliers and customers, a number of whom supply to front line services, such as Hospitals which I hope means we have been able to play a part in helping the many in need.
By continuing to produce, we have put to the top of our priority list the safety and wellbeing of our staff. Our own initiatives combined with guidance from government has resulted in a very different working environment, one with lots of hand sanitisers, one way systems, signage, screening, queuing to enter and leave the premises and persistent cleaning amongst the many measures deployed. I am very proud of all of our staff for tackling this difficult situation in a positive manner and we will continue to review and update our processes on an ongoing basis.
It would seem that the UK economy has been particularly devastated by the impact of Covid-19, particularly when we compare business levels in our export markets. We can’t say when the economic situation will improve or to what degree, but with the easing of restrictions that has commenced and construction sites re-opening, we hope this will bring some relief to the industry in the coming months.
Finally, to our customer, suppliers and staff I want to say thank you for your fantastic support and rest assured we aim to continue managing our way through the challenges ahead.
