People are at the heart of everything we do, and without our staff, we wouldn’t be where we are today. By supporting our staff on their learning journey, they in return, bring their new found knowledge and skills into the workplace. Ensuring we provide a better and more efficient service to our customers going forward.
One employee we have supported recently has been Gemma Mumford, Senior Buyer here at Torin-Sifan. We sponsored her to take her CIPS professional qualification towards being MCIPS accredited. MCIPS is an internationally recognised accreditation, which sets the global standards and best practices for the procurement and supply profession.
Gemma has been studying with the APA Procurement and Supply Training - a leading CIPS provider based in Swindon. When asked about her experience with the company, Gemma responded, “The support and direction Anne and Ian have given me over the years has been outstanding and I could not have asked for better guidance.”
Studying towards a MCIPS, Chartered procurement and supply professional status, has been a long and disciplined journey for Gemma. She became a CIPS student in 2016 and since then has taken over 22 exams!
“The process to becoming chartered has developed my skills and knowledge of the profession, from a tactical and administrative level, to a strategic view of global supply chain management. It has advanced my negotiation and category management skills and I’ve gained an understanding of the importance of collaboration with supply partners - both internal and external stakeholders.”
At Torin-Sifan we wish her all the luck as she awaits her final results. When asked if she had anything else to add, Gemma responded,
“Torin-Sifan has funded my final year of study and supported me to attend weekly classes and exams, for which I am extremely grateful. It has been a long 4 year process but the benefits gained and value added in my role, far outweighs the investment and commitment.”
